The 7th race of the TMBRA series was held in Sugar Land at the Brazos River Park near Houston, TX. Course was super fast with no real technical challenges (unless you find cyclocross in an open field with super tight twisty turns or riding in a pack on cement and gravel sections challenging). Weather was a balmy 90 degrees by the afternoon, the shady trail was much appreciated by all.
This race had a huge turnout with 581 riders pre-registered and loads of sponsor tents and spectators. Watch out Santa – several took advantage of the e-bike demos. Gotta love the cheering section where not only cowbells were ringing but the raunchy sound of a chainsaw chased folks at the start.
3 student athletes made it to the podium: Freshman Nathan Douglas finished 1st; 6th grader Mia Thomas placed 2nd while junior Luke Duvall finished 3rd.
